Still Life Interactive Paintings

8th grade Exploratory art students used an interactive website from the National Gallery of Art for this still life lesson. The website allow students to click and drag still life objects on their laptop. It can cast shadows; make objects bigger or smaller, overlap shapes, created different ambiance with the background.

Once students created their composition, they would sketch it out on drawing paper and paint with acrylic paints. Shadows were either painted or the use of charcoal pencils for shading. You can try this out also! Here is the website: http://www.nga.gov/kids/zone/stilllife.htm
