Geometric Still Life Drawings
Ever wonder how to make objects appear more real? Drawing common geometric shapes, shading, color and casting shadows from a light source are techniques used by artist to make it appear more real.
Procedures:
• Arrange and draw geometric objects. Overlap your objects, placing some behind and others in front.
• Determine a light source-where the light is hitting an object.
• Example: if the light is coming from the right of object, then the darkest part would be the opposite-the left and the cast shadow would be on the left also.
• Shade either the left side or right side. Darkest part will be the start of the shading and gradually lighten as you go towards the middle of the object.
• Repeat this process until all objects are shaded.
• Finish by drawing and shading your cast shadows with each object.
Vocabulary Words:
1. Form-creating objects that appear more 3d using shading and cast shadows.

6. Overlap- is a term used in art to draw objects behind or in front of each other. This is important and is another method to make objects appear more real.
7. Composition-is a term used in art for arranging and organizing your shapes to make a good picture. This is achieved by the use of overlapping shapes.
